"Later we saw that the water was small and there was light shining in, so we used plastic pipes to pass the note out. Plastic pipes will not be soaked by water. "
"If you can be rescued, you will pull a WeChat group in the future and become sworn brothers."
In the mine tunnel more than 300 meters underground, there was a long and anxious wait, and 13 trapped miners made such a promise.
At 15: 26 on December 14th, a water seepage accident occurred at the border transportation stone gate in N24 mining area of Shanmushu Coal Mine of Sichuan Coal Group. By 16: 00 on the 16th, it was confirmed that 5 people were killed and 13 people were lost. By 3 am on the 18th, rescuers got in touch with the trapped miners. At 8 o’clock on the 18th, all the 13 miners trapped were rescued and raised.
In the dark, 13 miners took turns lighting with miner’s lamps; In hunger, they eat slime, eat belts and drink urine; In desperation, they encouraged each other, "they will be saved."
After 88 long hours of intense and scientific rescue, the miracle finally happened, which is the miracle of 13 miners’ brothers and everyone’s.

Drink urine and eat a belt to pass a note.
At 9: 40 am on December 19th, Chengdu Business Daily-Red Star journalist was allowed to enter the intensive care unit of Yibin Mine Emergency Hospital, where six trapped miners were admitted, and saw six rescued miners resting in their beds. Among them, Liu Guihua and Yi Guangming are allowed to be interviewed due to their physical conditions.
Wait, "will come to save us"
Liu Guihua, 56, is the oldest and longest-serving among the rescued miners. During his work in Baijiao Coal Mine, he once encountered a coal mine accident, and he also escaped smoothly. The doctor told the reporter that Liu Guihua was in good health. He started eating on the evening of 18th and ate a bowl of noodles on the morning of 19th.
Yi Guangming, 53, was in a stable mood. He lay in his hospital bed and calmly recalled his experiences in the mine tunnel. He said that since he was trapped, he had always believed that "someone would come to save us". He told himself this and told his teammates around him.
In the dark tunnel, they turn on the miner’s lamp in turn to keep it bright and always pay attention to the change of water level.
"The water is too big, blocking a main roadway." Yi Guangming said that the flooding accident happened so suddenly that they didn’t have time to retreat outside the mine road. They only went to the heights. Everyone was familiar with the mine road below, "knowing a relatively safe place."
They finally retreated to a cul-de-sac together, and the water did not continue to flood, but there was no way out. Liu Guihua recalled that their last shelter was a space more than 10 meters long, 3 meters wide and 3 meters high.
According to the data, Cunninghamia lanceolata Coal Mine was built in the 1960s, and the roadway depth is complex. The roadway where 13 trapped miners are located is 313 meters underground. According to rescuers, the accident point is still 10 kilometers away from the ground entrance, and it takes 2 hours to enter the accident point.
Yi Guangming said that they tried some self-help, such as breathing with a tube in their mouth and considering swimming through a flooded roadway, but these methods were quickly denied by their environment.
Liu Guihua and Yi Guangming are both old miners with experience. After confirming that he was trapped underground, the team leader Hu, with the cooperation of Liu Guihua, Yi Guangming and others, first calmed everyone’s emotions, let everyone sit down together, maintain physical strength and reduce air consumption.
"Hearing the knock, we knew we were saved."
On the afternoon of the flooding accident, the miners were still carrying a box lunch. On the night of being trapped, they ate the box lunch and had no other food. Two or three days later, Liu Guihua, who was really hungry, ate some of his belt. "Chew slowly, chew it up and swallow it with water."
Some people also eat coal and drink urine. Yi Guangming told everyone that their urine is saved and put in cups. "Drink your own." They are ready for a longer wait.
The most difficult thing is that "the gas concentration is gradually coming up", and they know that this is a signal that danger is approaching. Yi Guangming said that some people began to talk about children being young and retiring soon … … Speaking of one thousand … … Yi Guangming told everyone not to despair. "As long as there is rescue outside, we have hope."
Liu Guihua doesn’t remember clearly. He said that after being trapped for about a day, they heard a noise outside. "There is a sound of knocking on the pipeline. If they knock 13 times, we will go back 13 times. As long as we hear the knocking, we will go back. We know that we will be saved soon."
Yi Guangming said, "Later we saw that the water was small and there was light shining in, so we used plastic pipes to pass the note out. Plastic pipes will not be soaked by water, we have pens, and what we want to express is that we are still there. " One of the miners trapped underground is a gas inspector. They call him a "bricklayer". The gas monitor carried a pen and paper with him, wrote a note, tied it to a pipe and handed it out.
Liu Guihua is familiar with the roadway situation because he often walks in dangerous sections during operation. It is a U-shaped roadway with high ends and low middle, and the length of the lowest roadway is about 10 meters.
Seeing the water level drop and hearing the pump stop outside, Liu Guihua judged from experience that he could swim through the dangerous roadway. He decided to gamble: "After all, there is an eight-year-old daughter at home, and I can’t die!" Arriving at the safe area where the other rescuer is located, Liu Guihua saw the rescuer as soon as he emerged from the water.
Liu Guihua was holding the rescuers with tears in her eyes.
First aid over there
Drainage and gas extraction to transport compressed air
Outside the roadway 313 meters underground, intense rescue began immediately after the accident. The Furong Coal Mine Rescue Team, which is closest to the coal mine, organized 30 people to be divided into 4 groups to go down the well for rescue. Within a few hours after the accident, the Sichuan Provincial Emergency Management Department dispatched 11 rescue teams and 192 people to the rescue.
Drainage, ventilation, dredging, search and rescue … … The underground environment of Cunninghamia lanceolata Coal Mine is complex, and the sudden seepage accident increases the complexity of underground geological and hydrological conditions, and the serious damage of power supply, drainage and ventilation systems also increases the difficulty of rescue.
The water level is still rising. At 11 o’clock on the 15th, the rescue team started to drain water by using drainage equipment with rated flow of 220 cubic meters per hour. However, through observation, the water level still rises by 445 mm per hour. Until 13: 00 on the 16th, the water level reached a maximum of 138.71 meters.
The situation is urgent and drainage must be accelerated. After careful analysis of the site situation, a larger pump was transported to the site and put into use quickly, and the water level began to decline. While draining water, it is also necessary to ensure the oxygen supply of the trapped miners. Rescuers used pipelines to transport compressed air to the trapped miners’ area. After the water level drops to a certain height, gas is pumped out again.
The situation gradually became clear. At 8 o’clock in the morning on December 17, the water level dropped to 124 meters, and rescue conditions began to be available. At 12 noon on the 17th, the first batch of medical staff began to go down the well. At 9: 30 pm on the 17th, nearly 50 members of a large rescue team officially went down the well.
As the water level dropped, rescuers got in touch with the trapped miners by knocking on the pipeline. This is a string of "notes of life". Gou Zhong, executive deputy head of the National Mine Emergency Rescue Furong Team and the person in charge of on-site rescue, said that the rescuers knocked 13 times and responded 13 times. "This knock made everyone extremely excited." The rescue team continued to knock on the pipe to "cheer up" the trapped miners, and the echo was getting louder and louder. By the early morning of the 18th, after the water level dropped, there was a gap at the top of the roadway. At this time, rescuers picked up a plastic pipe from the water surface, with a plastic bag tied to it and a piece of paper inside. The handwriting is vague, but it is discernible: someone, no water.
Reunion of life and death
An 82-year-old man came to see his son
The rescuer Liu Guihua held after he escaped from danger was the rescuer Gou Zhong. At that time, Gou Zhong was as excited as he was, but according to the situation on the spot, he shouted to other trapped miners to keep them still. "I was trapped for more than 80 hours without food, and I was extremely nervous, worried that they were exhausted."
After more than an hour, the water level dropped to a safe level, and rescuers prepared boat stretchers and lifebuoys to enter the roadway where the trapped miners were located, and transported them out one by one for oxygen inhalation and infusion … …
In the headquarters office, after confirming the information that 13 miners are alive, there was warm applause.
At 5: 55, the first trapped miner successfully ascended the well. During the process of being sent to the ambulance, warm applause sounded at the wellhead. Applause followed by applause. At 7: 56, all 13 trapped people were sent to the hospital.
In a sudden flooding accident, 13 miners trapped 313 meters underground miraculously survived after 88 hours of intense rescue.
At 6 o’clock on the evening of the 18th, Yibin Mine Emergency Hospital was still busy, and an aunt who swept the floor was still working overtime. She told the reporter, "I worked overtime today, but I am very happy in this class."
On the morning of the 19th, Liu Guihua shed tears several times during a brief interview. He said that when he was trapped, someone suggested, "If you can be rescued, you should pull a WeChat group and become sworn brothers in the future."
At the end of the interview, Liu Guihua entrusted a reporter to take a message to his wife Chen Chaoqiong: "I am fine, please rest assured! The doctor is very kind to me! " Liu Guihua couldn’t help but shed tears again.
At 1 noon on the 19th, 82-year-old Liu Wenhan went to the hospital to visit his son Liu Guihua with the help of his two daughters. He told reporters that four generations of miners in his family: grandfather, father, he and his son, were all coal miners. Liu Wenhan used to drive a small coal mine and dig coal himself. Both Liu Guihua and his younger brother have followed their father to dig coal, which is also regarded as his father’s apprentice. Liu Guihua has five brothers and sisters. He is the eldest, his younger brother also works in a coal mine, and his two brothers-in-law have also worked in a coal mine.
